With the generous support and advice of the principal of St Louis School and the staff, especially Sir Lo Chi-Wing, Sir Patrick Pak and Ms. Susana Kwok, and Dominic Yeung, President of Sloba Asset Management and many other Old Boys, the first year of Father Deane Achievement Award was successfully launched.
Awards
Each winner (one from each year from S.1 to S.6) was awarded $5,000 and a trophy (donated by various Old Boys) on 23 Jan 2009.
Certificates of Merit
Certificates of Merit were also awarded to other candidates 1.3.09.
Hall of Fame
A Hall of Fame has been set up in St Louis School for permanent posting of winners names. It was unveiled by Michael Suen Ming Yeung, Director of Education on 25 March 2009.

Dear Board Members
I am pleased to report to you that the panel has, after one and a half days’ interview and not without difficulty because all the applicants are so close, selected 6 winners for the Award. Although they all have their outstanding achievements in their own field of activities, we discerned one common thread in them, viz, their willingness to contribute to the well being of their juniors and their commitment to put the name of the School back on the map.
The panel has solicited support from a number of younger teachers. We demonstrated to Fr Ng that the old boys are there to help, and not just to mess around in the name of our love to Fr Deane. At the end, we managed to get him to agree to put up a Hall of Fame in the School and to allow the Award winners each to make a short speech after the Award is presented to them.
Almost all applicants found the mentor we assigned them very helpful and that they have actually benefited from the application. However, we considered it necessary and will debrief those applicants who did not win the Award lest they might lose their confidence.
We have engaged a ‘professional’ producer to cover the presentation of the Awards and interview all applicants. A documentary for the organization of the Award will be made.
I ask you to join me on the coming Friday (23 Jan) morning and be part of this historical event. You may be able to come up with ideas to push this event to new heights. Your presence and support means a lot to the students and teachers alike.
