Got the information from Henry the other day. I felt especially sorry for Fr Deane especially in the view not just from an Old Boy to a superior but also from a doctor to a patient. I see patients in nursing homes regularly and I can understand the feelings they have …… so eager to talk to anyone around them and demand appreciation for what they did in their glorious past.
I met C.C. Lee two days ago and told him about this. He says if Fr Deane wants to return to Hong Kong and stay, he will personally arrange everything. He does not want him to return to St Louis but will find a place for him.
I will talk about this in our next committee meeting and will hopefully organize a visiting party to see Fr Deane. Is there a chance to get some Old Boys from Australia and New Zealand to join in the trip? Or even some Old Boys from Hong Kong as well?
