Father fell ill in Feb 2003

On Feb 6, 2003 Theresa Lee visited Father again and found him seriously ill. The nursing home thought they might be losing him the day before she arrived. He had a very high temperature and he was shaking all over, even his bed was shaking. Fr Foster and Father Deane's sister Deane were notified. Helen the carer was very upset and distressed that Theresa might not make it in time to see him. He was on oxegen till Fri morning. Eileen stayed overnight at the home for 2 nights and Theresa stayed there for 2 nights. Luckily he slowly recovered. The doctor saw him on Feb 11 and was pleased with his progress.

With the doctor's approval, arrangement was made to let Father have his meal after medication so that he could swallow better whilst his Parkinson's disease symptoms were suppressed by the medicine. By Feb 13 Father was recovering well but it was a trying week for Helen, her daughters (who were so kind to help) and Theresa.

The nursing home has been excellent in helping Theresa to provide Father with extra nutritional care. Father lost about 15 kg in this downturn but by Feb 24 he was starting to regain some weight and even took a few steps with the help of the walker everyday.
