Dear Theresa,

It was lovely to talk to you on the phone last Monday. I notice a great change in Fr Pat since you left.  He is not as "alive" as he was when you were here, in fact from time to time he is very down in himself and I would say very insecure. From our conversation I know he misses your company a lot. You are the only person he can relate to . You and the rest of his friends from China were part of his life for so long and now you are not there!

I contacted the Parkinson's Association for advice as to how I can help him, but they just send me a list of exercises to do with him which I have already started. He needs some kind of stimulation which he will never get inside the four walls of his room at the Manor and in my opinion his condition can only worsen.  The nurses are great but they do not have the time or the training to give him the attention he needs.  Most of the time he thinks he is still in China - What a pity he was moved out of his environment back to Ireland - to him it must be like living in a foreigh country! He is lost!

I promised you Theresa that I would do all I can for him and I will.  He associates me with you so for him that is some small comfort.

At the moment I am in the middle of moving house but from the 1st July I will be with my daughter, iIf you need to get in touch, I shall talk to Chris and Bosco on their return.

Bye for the present.

Love

Brid.
