Dear Theresa,

We were delighted to hear that you are able to come again to Ireland so soon after your last visit.  I'm sure Fr Pat will be overjoyed when he knows that you are coming.  He said that he had talked to you on the telephone so I asked him if you were coming again and he said that you'll never come again!  When we said "Of course, Theresa will come whenever she can, she wouldn't let you down!" he smiled like a naughty boy.

........

Today Fr Pat was quite stiff in the legs and we told the sisters that the doctor should examine him as he may need some extra physiotherapy. We went out to lunch and talked a bit about going to Hong Kong or Australia. Pat said that he still has doubts about Hong Kong – he said that all those Old Boys in Hong Kong had foreign passports and at the slightest hint of trouble, they'll be off like a shot and he'd be left alone there!  So, he is thinking about the possibility of going. I asked him if he had discussed going with the Salesians.  He said he had not, but that Johnny Foster had said to wait and see how things turn out! So, he obviously has mentioned it to Johnny Foster.  Fr Pat also said that it's the Provincial who would have the final say but that he is a very reasonable man.

In general, Fr Pat was not in a very good mood today and was complaining a lot about people spying on him and stealing his things.

I think we'll have to meet the Provincial when you are here and discuss Fr Pat's future with him.  It's no good leaving it any longer!  After you have worked on Pat for a week, I'm sure he  will have made up his mind that Australia would be the best place for him and would be bright enough to tell the Provincial his wishes.

We are here until 16th February, if you want to discuss this further.
