DearAlex,

Father has not been sleeping well lately due to the noise made by his roommate at night. As a result he is very tired.  He is very unhappy.  His spirit is very low and he is threatening not to eat.

When he is happy and with medication he is normally quite alert. But when he is agitated as he is now, his mobility is a lot poorer and he can be rather confused.  So when I rang him he kept asking me to visit him forgetting that I am in Sydney.

When he first moved into the nursing home, Father Deane was placed in a shared room but the other bed was vacant.  Subsequently another priest arrived at the same nursing home and was provided with a single room, no doubt due to the diligence and care of members of his Church Order. Roughly at the same time, an existing nursing home patient was transferred from another room to Father's room to take up the spare bed. ........  I am sure Father tried to adapt but must be finding the current situation with sleepless nights quite difficult. ........

I have now notified his family and his only friend in Dublin of the situation.

.......

I fell terrible about his present condition and feel helpless. May be the Old Boys can think of something to help urgently.

Theresa Lee
