Chris & Bosco Keown

Chris, Bosco and Father Deane at lunch in Nov 1999.

Chris and Bosco Keown have known Father Deane for over 20 years. They met Father when they first arrived in Hongkong to work and went to attend a St Patrick Society meeting. (Father Deane was at the time chaplain of St. Patrick Society.) Because they were new to Hongkong with few friends, Father paid special attention to them and made them feel very welcome. They invited Father to their home straight away when the meeting was  over and they have remained very close friends since.

Chris and Bosco returned to Ireland a couple of years before the handover.  They have been very attentive to Father's needs the last few years after Father returned to Dublin. Chris and Bosco lived some 50 km away from Father's nursing home, driving an hour and a half to 2 hours per trip to visit Father once a week and took him out for lunch, mostly to restaurants Father enjoyed. They paid for all these lunches, bought  Father chocolates and flowers to brighten up his room. Father was very lucky to have a couple of true friends like Chris and Bosco living in Dublin.

Chris and Bosco also know a few other Salesian priests eg. Fr Smith, Fr McKenna, Fr Joyce etc very well.  They have agreed to handle the payment of all expenses that the Trust wants to pay on behalf of Father Deane. All accounts and receipts will be sent to Sydney and filed by the Trust for audits.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Chris and Bosco for their help and are most grateful for their friendship and loyalty to Father.
